Government soldiers reportedly killed in Benshangul, Ethiopia

Four government soldiers reportedly killed in Benshangul region of Ethiopia. Ethiopian Satellite Television cited a source from the region with whom ESAT spoke on the phone.

According to the source, the soldiers were killed when gunmen ambushed them in the gold mining locality, Sherkole. The report added that the attackers consider themselves as freedom fighters.

The number of soldiers killed in the attack is said to be four. Lieutenant Werawi Abreha and Halefom are among the four victims, according to ESAT Report.
There was similar incident in the region in recent past, after state of emergency was declared. So far government didn’t issue a statement about it.
