At Least One Dead And Several Inmates Injured In Ethiopia’s High Security Kilinto Prison

A fire that broke out and ensuing gunshots have reportedly led to the death of at least one inmate and the injury of several inmates in Ethiopia’s high security prison, Kilinto, where scores of Ethiopia opposition leaders and activists are held, Addis Abeba based newspapers have reported on their online editions.

Debre Markos prison, Northern Ethiopia, was gutted by fire two days ago.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Several federal police and the government’s secret squad Agazi forces were seen around the prison according to witnesses.
