Egypt parliament sacks MP over meeting with Israeli envoy

Egypt’s parliament has sacked a deputy after he held talks with the Israeli ambassador to Cairo during a dinner at his home.
Tewfiq Okasha hosted Haim Koren last week, sparking anger among Egyptian lawmakers. One lawmaker hit Okasha with a shoe. Okasha says he talked with the Israeli envoy regarding Egypt’s concerns over a controversial dam being built by Ethiopia on the Blue Nile. 465 deputies, more than two-thirds of the parliament members, voted to unseat Okasha. MPs say Okasha has failed in his duties by inviting a foreign party to interfere in a national security issue.Egypt parliament sacks MP over meeting with Israeli envoy
